Neo MVP of Xperia PLAY 2011

Filip "Neo" Kubski has once more been given recognition by the public, his colleagues and e-sports journalists who all chose him as the MVP of Xperia PLAY 2011. The All-star lineup was also selected and, along with some veteran names, it features a player who could be named the "revelation" of the tournament and the best player of the final.

As one of the last parts of our post-event coverage, it has become traditional to select the MVP and the All-Star lineup through a couple of polls, one for the public and one for the "experts". As Xperia PLAY 2011 came to an end, we put up the nominees in this article where eventually over 4000 people left their opinion. Results from that poll will represent the public's half of the vote. The "experts" half will come from the opinions of players who participated at the event as well as e-sports journalists who we asked privately (16 journalists and 56 players).

MVP

On previous two occasions after major tournaments, the voters were not so certain about who to pick as the MVP, but this time the result has been much clearer. The Xperia PLAY's Most Valuable Player award goes to Filip "Neo" Kubski as he was voted high above the rest with a staggering 74% of the experts' votes and also never-as-high 54% of the public's votes.

This is Kubski's second MVP title in a row, as he was previously named the best at IEM5 World Championship where Frag eXecutors finished 2nd. Unlike on their previous two occasions (also 3rd at IEM5 European Finals) the team now managed to win the event, while Kubski was per usual their star player. It's safe to say that in the first three major tournaments of the year no one showed a better performance overall than him, and if he continues, he will certainly be the prime candidate for our Player of the Year award.

Statistically speaking, Kubski excelled in many areas during the event in Denmark which entirely backed up his MVP claim. Perhaps the most notable was his consistency as he played well in every match, 14 out of 14 times rated above 1.00. He particularly demonstrated that during the knockout stage of the tournament, recording a 1.31 playoff-rating, the best of all players. Additionally he was 6 times top rated in a match, was one of the best clutchers (8 rounds won 1vsX), had the most kills during the tournament (320) and the best kill-death difference (+111).

All-star lineup

The vote for the All-star lineup presented some interesting results, particularly for its last member as two players were practically even, while the rest of the lineup is filled up with the four MVP-nominees.

For the third major event in a row, the most frequent choice for the All-star lineup has been Filip "Neo" Kubski. Two previous times he has been at the top of both experts' and public's polls, and this time is no different as he was above the rest with 83% and 85%, respectively.

The next in line was Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg, SK Gaming's star player who finally stepped up after two mediocre tournaments and led his team to the final. He was the 2nd most frequent choice on both sides of the vote, although experts gave him much more credit (79%) than the public (63%).

The third member of the lineup is the only one who along with Kubski has been featured on both previous All-star lineups as well, Martin "trace" Heldt from mTw. As he once more carried the Danish team, this time to a shared 3rd place, Heldt's performances were recognized mostly by the experts as he was their 3rd pick (53%), while the public had him as the 5th choice with 40% of their votes.

The revelation of the tournament and its highest rated player, Karl-William "kalle" Haraldsen (1.40 rating) is the 4th member of the All-star lineup. He exploded during this event, announcing himself as a new big name on the scene while leading RG-Esports to shared 3rd place. The voters mostly agreed about his 4th place, although many weren't entirely convinced as more than half opted to chose someone else (experts gave him 49% of the votes, the public 42%).

The final member of the fictional lineup was almost impossible to decide, as Jarosław "pasha" Jarząbkowski and Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund were neck-to-neck in the poll until the very end. With less than one percentage separating them, the advantage went to the best player of the final, Jarząbkowski, as the experts gave him more credit (40%) than Alesund (31%) and he was almost there for the public too (6th with 33%).
